Welcome

to Wilton Encore Club

IntroThe purpose of the Wilton Encore Club is to promote friendship and mutual support through social activities and to help raise funds to benefit agencies that provide social services to the local community. The club provides a variety of activities from monthly coffees to theater and ballet in New York City. Members can be as active as they choose.

Vital to the strength of the club is for all members to get involved. Getting involved results in fun and new friendships! Everyone is encouraged to not only participate in activities but also to volunteer to help to run these activities. It’s a great way to get to know other members and to contribute to the vitality of the club. It truly “takes a village” to make the club successful. We are extremely grateful to the many wonderful women who help in so many ways to make our activities successful and have made the club what it is today

Membership

The Wilton Encore Club was formed in 1970 by a group of ladies who were graduates of the Wilton Newcomers Club. They formed the Club in order to continue the wonderful social activities they enjoyed as members of the Newcomers Club. Many of our original activities were carried over from the Newcomers. As interests have changed, we have changed our activities accordingly.

Encore was originally started in the spirit of fun and friendship and included commitment to community. These are still the hallmarks of the Wilton Encore Club. Members mostly come from Wilton but many surrounding towns are well represented.

Fun and friendship are still the primary cores for Wilton Encore Club members. You are most welcome to join and we’d love to get to know you and your interests.

Testimonials

After I retired in 2016, I was looking forward to meeting new people who shared my interests, as well as the opportunity to try new activities. I was encouraged to join Encore by old friends, and have found the club a friendly venue to meet members who share similar interests, whether it be in books, travel, exploring the arts, museums, food, or just socializing. My first introduction to Encore was the fall fundraiser fashion show. It not only benefited a great local agency, but was so much fun. Each month I enjoy choosing what activities fit my schedule. Glad I am a member!

A dear friend of mine told me when I retired that she was a member of a social group called The Encore Club from Wilton and said I should think about joining as they had so many wonderful activities that I would enjoy. She invited me to a coffee that they have on the first Friday of every month, hosted by an Encore member in her home. I decided to give it a try and that day as I said goodbye to the lovely women I met, I was absolutely sure I wanted to be a member. It is almost five years now since I joined and some of my dearest friends are women I met through Encore. I am so glad I decided to attend the coffee that day as not only are the women very special but the activities are such fun and keep you young at heart.

Encore has been a godsend for me. I have been a member for many years but when my husband passed away, I really needed to fill my days. Encore had lunches, trips and friendly members who took my mind off my sorrow. Many of the members are widows and they have become role models for how to live happily as a single person. There are occasional couple events where I feel comfortable and welcome. Serving on committees and being president have brought the reward of many new friends both married and single.

In the Encore Club, the opportunities are abundant to meet so many great new friends and become better acquainted with those I have known for some time. The activities offered cover such a wide variety of interesting options that I may not take the time to do otherwise. I also have enjoyed the evening socials as well. I immediately became involved and volunteered to organize several activities, which was the best experience of all.

Encore is a wonderful way to meet women of all ages who have a variety of interests. There are many different activities that members can choose to participate in every month. The monthly coffees are a great opportunity to socialize and catch up with friends on a regular basis. The Chick Flick evening is always a fun chance to relax with other members to see a current movie and have dinner together either before or after the movie. I especially enjoy the Book Discussion group. We read books (often on the best seller lists) on a variety of interesting subjects and then have a chance to discuss them among friends. I look forward to enjoying many more good times together with my Encore friends in the future.

I’ve enjoyed being in the Wilton Encore Club ever since around 1983 or 1984.  I joined because I was playing tennis with an Encore group and needed to be a member to keep playing!  I loved all the activities ever since and have organized the NY Restaurant Weeks, also Lunch Bunch.  I arranged a few trips as well.  Our recent tea party was one of the highlights of this year!
